About 17-4 PH SS Plate For Aerospace & Defence Application
Stellinox Global supplies premium-quality 17-4 PH Stainless Steel Plates (Grade 630 / UNS S17400 / DIN 1.4542) designed for critical high-stress applications in the Aerospace, Defence, and Missile Manufacturing sectors.
17-4 PH is a chromium-nickel-copper precipitation-hardening (age-hardening) martensitic stainless steel. It is highly preferred by engineering procurement teams because it provides an exceptional combination of ultra-high tensile and yield strength along with excellent corrosion resistance, comparable to Grade 304 in most atmospheric environments.
Technical & Material Standards Compliance
We supply materials that meet the strict quality standards required for military and aviation engineering:
Material Specification: AMS 5604 (Aerospace Material Specification), ASTM A693, ASME SA693
Heat Treatment Supply Conditions: Solution Annealed (Condition A), H900, H1025, H1075, H1150, and H1150M / H1150D for improved fracture toughness.
Thickness & Dimensions: Available in a wide range of customized thicknesses, hot-rolled (HR) or cold-rolled (CR), cut to size as per specific component drawings.
Certification: Material Test Certificates (MTC) according to EN 10204 3.1 are provided with every batch, ensuring 100% traceability and chemical-mechanical verification.
Mechanical Properties & Machinability Performance
Tensile Strength: Reaches up to 1310 MPa (190 ksi) post-H900 age hardening.
Hardness Range: Varies from 28 HRC to 44 HRC depending on the selected aging temperature.
Fabrication: The material exhibits excellent machinability and weldability when in Condition A, allowing complex component machining before final age-hardening treatment without significant dimensional distortion or scaling risk.
Major Industrial Applications
Our 17-4 PH plates are widely utilized by defense research labs and aerospace tier-1 suppliers for manufacturing:
Aviation & Space: Structural frames, helicopter rotor components, engine mountings, and specialized aircraft fasteners.
Defence & Naval Engineering: Rocket motor casings, missile guidance system components, and deep-sea marine hardware.
Power & Fluid Control: High-pressure valve internal components, gas turbine blades, and heavy-duty actuators.
